The opening was attended by artists from the central province, such as Yudelkis Pérez, accompanied by the Provincial Symphony Orchestra and students of music schools, all with several presentations planned during the event.
According to the program of the event, musicians and groups from countries such as Azerbaijan, Austria, Switzerland and Cuba are expected to particiate in the central territory, as well as a wide variety of local jazz exponents.
Eliot Porta, member of the Jazz Plaza 2026 Organizing Committee, explained that as a central part of this edition will be held the Colloquium “José Luis Cortés in Memoriam”, an academic and reflective space that will deepen the artistic, intellectual and pedagogical legacy of the outstanding musician and conductor of the emblematic orchestra “NG La banda”.
In addition to the musical presentations, the event has a complementary program that interweaves cinema and literature with jazz and includes extended film cycles and a space that will promote the work of the poet Sigfredo Ariel.
This cultural program is part of a historic edition of the Jazz Plaza, which for the first time extends to the provinces of Havana, Santiago de Cuba, Holguín and Santa Clara, bringing together more than 1,500 artists from 20 countries.
