Narrated in eight chapters of 15 minutes each and produced by Cubavision Internacional with the collaboration of CGTN en Español, the audiovisual goes into the heart of China to tell the story shared between both countries and peoples. From the first coolies (a term historically used for low-wage labourers, typically those of Indian or Chinese descent) that arrived in Cuba in 1847 to the current cooperation agreements between Cuba and China, the series recalls landmarks of cultural heritage and draws attention to the solid bilateral relationship that still lives over the time.
Cubavision Internacional on official website assures that after the success of its first season, the series returns with a new episode, after filming in the city of Beijing, and in the provinces of Shanxi and Guangdong, cradles of the Chinese diaspora who came to Cuba in the nineteenth century.
The chapters address historical ties between the parties, governments and peoples of both countries, as well as the Chinese cultural heritage that enriched Cuba’s national identity in areas such as gastronomy, martial arts, art, sports and education.
Through testimonies, archives and tours of emblematic sites, the series reveals how this heritage remains alive and is revitalized in the present.
This second season is part of the 65 beats audiovisual project, which honors the six and a half decades of bilateral relations between Cuba and China.
