A total of 32 Cubans were killed in the South American nation in defense of constitutional president Nicolas Maduro, during the military aggression that occurred on January 3.
A statement from MIU informed that, on behalf of the group, William Polanco, Jose Mendoza, Yokaty Abreu and Francisco Santana, members of the National Directorate, signed the book of condolences and solidarity.
“With revolutionary honour and loyalty we pay tribute to our Cuban brothers who gave their lives in defense of the sovereignty and inalienable cause of free peoples.
Their sacrifice reminds us that the anti-imperialist struggle is not a slogan, but a historical commitment sealed with blood and conscience”, they said in the message.
They also quoted the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro: “Revolutions are not made with words, but with sacrifices,” pointing out that today these sacrifices become a banner of dignity and an example for present and future generations.
Miguel Mejia, general secretary of the IMU, expressed his deepest respect and combative solidarity, reaffirming that the organization stands firm in defense of social justice, self-determination of peoples and revolutionary international unity.
The members of the National Directorate were received by the Cuban ambassador to this nation, Ángel Arzuaga.
