The Minister of Public Health, Hygiene and Social Welfare, Samuel Roger Kamba, stated that this is the highest health priority in the country, where 1,638 suspected cases were detected in the last week, 290 more than in the same period the previous week.
Eight deaths were also recorded in the last seven days, raising the case fatality rate to five percent.
Kinshasa is of particular concern due to the city’s complexity, where two of the eight deaths in the country occurred last week.
Last year, more than 64,000 people were affected by cholera in the DRC, with almost 1,900 deaths recorded, leading to the current epidemic being considered the worst in 25 years.
