The tribute to the Apostle of Cuban Independence, presided over by the Cuban ambassador to Italy, Jorge Luis Cepero, was attended by the head of the Cuban diplomatic mission to the Holy See, Leyde Rodriguez, as well as members of associations of Cuban nationals residing in Italy.
Also present were members of the diplomatic corps, officials from the Cuban missions in Rome and to the Holy See, leaders and members of political parties and solidarity organizations, and representatives from various sectors of Italian society with ties to the Caribbean nation.
In his keynote address at the event, held during the centennial celebration of the birth of Fidel Castro, the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, the Cuban ambassador stated that “Marti founded not only for his time, but for the future.”
The commemoration concluded with floral offerings to Marti at the monument erected in his memory by the heads of Cuba’s diplomatic missions to Italy and the Holy See, as well as by representatives of Cuban national associations and solidarity groups.
