Confirmed arboviral cases decline in Cuba

Havana, Jan 29 (Prensa Latina) For three consecutive weeks, reports of confirmed and suspected cases of dengue and chikungunya have decreased in Cuba, and the endemic channel for Febrile Syndrome in the country is within a safe range, it was reported here.

This was announced by Deputy Minister of Public Health Carilda Peña at the regular meeting with experts and scientists to address health issues, which is chaired by President Miguel Diaz-Canel.

At the meeting, mathematician and Director of Science and Technology at the University of Havana, Raul Guinovart Diaz, explained that the downward trend in cases is being observed in all regions, especially in the west and central regions; in the east, the decrease in cases is less pronounced, but also occurring.

Dr. Peña Garcia reported that funding for the vector control campaign in the first half of the year is guaranteed, including scheduled larvicide application cycles, and that supplies are being procured to ensure the continuity of the campaign in the second half of the year.
