Last night, the president posted a message on her Telegram account stating that Iturria is a “renowned Venezuelan physician, a magna cum laude graduate of the Central University of Venezuela, and a scientist, director of the Children’s Cardiology Hospital since its founding, an internist, and a public health specialist.”
She added that Iturria possesses extensive experience, professionalism, and management skills to promote scientific, health, and environmental policies aimed at the well-being of the people.
She also announced in another post on the social network the creation of the National Center for Defense and Cybersecurity, an agency that will report to the Council of Vice Presidents and will be headed by Minister Gabriela Jimenez, who previously held that position.
Rodriguez stated that Jimenez, along with the country’s scientists and experts, will dedicate her extensive knowledge to Venezuela’s cybersecurity.
“Together, with the capabilities and talent of our country, we will move forward firmly in the defense and protection of our cyberspace,” she affirmed.
The day before, during the ceremony of loyalty, recognition, and oath of office for Delcy Rodriguez as Commander-in-Chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, the president announced the creation of a National Office for Cybersecurity and Defense, which will be attached to the Council of Vice Presidents.
She announced that this new office will be headed by the Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jimenez, and called on all relevant agencies for maximum cooperation and performance to establish, within 100 days, “very clear guidelines for the new defense system for Venezuela, in perfect civic, military, and police unity.”
