The program takes place at UNEAC’s Villena Hall, where participants will analyze the relevance of his legacy in the defense of national sovereignty.
The event opens with a lecture entitled “Marti the Anti-Imperialist,” by researcher Pedro Pablo Rodriguez, about Marti’s experiences during his years living in the United States and his critical perspective on that country’s expansionist interests in Latin America.
The UNEAC explained on its social media that the gathering aims to engage the public in dialogue about the people’s right to live in peace and includes a joint performance by visual artists and trova singers, who will share works inspired by Marti’s anti-colonial and humanist ideals.
The cultural organization underscored that, faced with the “turbulent and brutal North that despises us,” its members respond with the ethical and artistic compass of the Apostle, calling for unity of thought and action.
This event is part of the celebrations for the 65th anniversary of the UNEAC and the 100th birthday of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro.
It is one of the initiatives that link art and history in the defense of Cuban identity.
