On Facebook, they added that what has been a threat for 67 years is the dignity and courage of the Cuban people in the face of a now intensified blockade that seeks to subjugate them.
“Those who think we will surrender are mistaken. We are prepared, as long as there is one patriotic Cuban left, to wave the flag of the lone star, which has never been mercenary,” they stated.
They added that Sandinista Nicaragua tells US President Donald Trump that the threat will not erase the example and dignity of the Cuban people.
On his Twitter account, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel criticized President Trump for continuing his policy of strangling the Cuban economy under a mendacious and baseless pretext, “sold by those who make politics and enrich themselves at the expense of our people’s suffering.”
Diaz-Canel pointed out that this measure proves the brutality of the policy against Cuba, asking on the social network, “Didn’t the Secretary of State and his cronies say that the blockade didn’t exist? Where are those who bore us with their false stories about it being a simple ‘bilateral trade embargo’?”
On the same platform, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez described Washington’s actions as a “brutal act of aggression against Cuba and its people, who for more than 65 years have been subjected to the longest and cruelest economic blockade ever applied against an entire nation, and whom they now promise to subject to extreme living conditions.”
