She made this statement in a morning interview with Radio Centenario, which broadcasts from this capital, in response to US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose tariffs on countries that sell oil to the Caribbean island.
“Imagine if no oil enters Cuba, how do you power a hospital, how do you light a school? It’s a criminal, genocidal policy,” she emphasized.
The diplomat stressed that the blockade against the Caribbean island has always been extraterritorial, used to pressure and punish third parties. “The United States intends to add others to its policy of encirclement and threatens them with tariffs,” she commented.
She said that with Trump, all the pressure tactics aimed at suffocating the Cuban population are multiplying.
She criticized the narrative by which the White House chief defines the Caribbean island as a threat to the northern power.
