Venezuela’s solidarity movement condemns executive order against Cuba

Caracas, Jan 30 (Prensa Latina) The National Movement of Friendship and Mutual Solidarity Venezuela Cuba today denounced and condemned with energy and firmness the new criminal act of economic and political genocide by the Donald Trump administration against the Cuban nation.

As a faithful expression of the “unwavering will for brotherhood among our peoples,” the organization declared in a statement that the American presidential decree “constitutes a flagrant, premeditated and cruel escalation of non-conventional war which for more than six decades has tried, without success, bending the dignity of the rebellious island”.

The note said that Trump’s new executive order imposes sanctions and taxes on countries trading oil with Cuba, along with the infamous and unjust classification of Cuba as an “unusual and extraordinary threat” to the United States.

It also denounced that this maneuver, carried out in the same aggressive and illegal manner applied against the Bolivarian Republic in 2015, “aims at the total economic suffocation of the Cuban people,” flagrantly violating all norms of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

“It is an act of state terrorism that seeks to subjugate a sovereign nation by hunger and necessity,” it stated.

The solidarity movement “in front of this ruthless aggression” declared the frontal struggle against the US blockade and interventionism.

“We must dare to break, once and for all, with the criminal blockade and permanent aggression.

There can be no neutrality in the face of crime”, it urged.

It recognized that a broad and unfettered front of international solidarity is imperative to activate all mechanisms of mobilization and public awareness so that the diplomatic, commercial and multilateral channels are activated to counter this offensive.

“In defense of Cuba, Venezuela and all the peoples who exercise their legitimate and inalienable right to self-determination and to build the political and social project that they have sovereignly decided,” added the note.

The Venezuelan National Movement reaffirmed and praised “the deeply internationalist, human and solidarity character of the Cuban Revolution”.

It reflected that while the US government exports bombs, wars and sanctions that generate death and misery, Cuba, despite its own limitations imposed by the blockade, “has for decades exported solidarity, health, sport, art and education to the humblest peoples of the planet”.

Its army of white coats, the note remarked, has written epics of altruism on every continent, demonstrating that his only “unusual and extraordinary threat” is the inspiring power of its example of resistance and surrender to others.

The text reiterated the unbreakable commitment, within the framework of this historical continuity of Bolivar, Martí, Fidel and Chavez, who today embody the leaderships that drive the destinies of these two sister nations, to remain fraternal, deeply united in one heart and one destiny.
