Zelensky denies possibility of meeting with Putin in Moscow

Kiev, Jan 30 (Prensa Latina) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky denied on Friday the possibility of traveling to Moscow, the capital of Russia, to meet with his counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

“Of course, I cannot meet with Putin in Moscow,” the politician declared on his Telegram channel.

Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov previously confirmed the invitation extended to the Ukrainian leader to visit Moscow if he wished to meet in person with Putin.

In that context, the official emphasized that the Kremlin authorities have never refused to maintain such contacts and are willing to guarantee the safety of the Kiev leader and the necessary working conditions.

The Russian aide admitted that this is not a new issue; on the contrary, it was repeatedly addressed in phone calls between the Russian head of State and his US counterpart, Donald Trump.

Russia’s initial statements were in response to the announcement made by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, who asserted that Zelensky was willing to meet personally with Putin to resolve “two of the most important issues within the framework of the peace negotiations.”
