The day before, China expressed its strong opposition to actions that would deprive the Cuban people of their fundamental rights, in response to the executive order signed by Donald Trump that threatens to impose tariffs on countries that supply oil to Cuba.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun stated during his daily press conference that Beijing government opposes “inhumane actions and practices that could deprive the Cuban people of their fundamental rights to subsistence and development.”
Guo stressed that “China firmly supports Cuba in defending its national sovereignty and security,” and emphasized the importance of rejecting “any form of external interference in the domestic affairs” of the Caribbean island. jdt/jcm/mks
