Solidarity with Cuba in Paris against the US Blockade

Paris, Jan 31 (Prensa Latina) French citizens in solidarity with Cuba demanded the end to the US economic, commercial, and financial blockade against the island and denounced the measures announced by President Donald Trump to reinforce the energy embargo.

The Val-d’Oise Committee of the France-Cuba association held its General Assembly, where members reaffirmed their solidarity with Cuba, both politically and materially.

The extraterritoriality of the blockade and Trump’s decision to consider Cuba an “unusual and extraordinary” threat to US national security were condemned at the meeting, which was attended by Justo Rodriguez, the second-in-command of the Cuban Mission in France.

Participants also shared experiences from recent trips to the island, during which France’s oldest solidarity association with the Caribbean nation, founded in 1961, provided medicine and other essential items.

In his address, Didier Philippe, reappointed as Chairman of the Committee, praised the Cuban people’s resilience in the face of Washington’s aggression, which escalated with Trump’s threat to impose tariffs on nations that supply or sell oil to Cuba.

Philippe also called on European governments, particularly France, to be more consistent with their UN vote against the blockade, protecting companies, banks, and citizens from the extraterritorial reach of that policy.

For his part, Rodriguez, who thanked France Cuba for its solidarity, warned that the escalation launched by Trump in the energy sector, in addition to seeking to strangle the island, aims to create conditions for a possible military intervention through lies.
