Cubans in Nicaragua reiterate commitment to their Homeland

Managua, Feb 1 (Prensa Latina) The “Antonio Maceo” community of Cubans residing in Nicaragua reaffirmed its commitment to defending their homeland and fighting against the blockade, in the face of the latest offensive by the United States government against the island. At an event held at the Cuban Embassy in this capital, as part of the international initiative Bridges of Love, the organization invoked the thought of National Hero Jose Marti, condemning the policy of strangulation that Washington is applying against Havana.

“Today, when the siege becomes more brutal and they intend to extinguish our lights by cutting off fuel and suffocating our energy, Marti is more necessary than ever,” the group stated in a pronouncement read by its president, Rafael Ruiz.

The event, which commemorated the 173rd anniversary of the Apostle’s birth, was attended by friends of solidarity and members of the Cuban state mission in Nicaragua, and reaffirmed the commitment to continue defending the Caribbean nation.

The statement highlighted the enduring relevance of Marti’s thought with excerpts from his essay “Our America,” emphasizing the call for unity, critical thinking, and resistance that defines Cuban identity.

In this regard, it remembered that “trenches of ideas are worth more than trenches of stone” and that “it is time for reflection and for united action,” as part of the Apostle’s intellectual legacy in the face of the dangers that threaten the peoples of the region.

It also argued that the measure reaffirms that it is the US government that threatens the security, stability, and peace of the region and the world.
