China and Russia to defend international order, Beijing assures

Beijing, Feb 2 (Prensa Latina) China affirmed on Monday that it will defend multilateralism and the United Nations-centered international system alongside Russia, following a strategic meeting held in this capital between high-ranking representatives of both countries.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian made these remarks regarding the meeting between Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Russia’s Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu.

Lin Jian stated that as major powers and permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), Beijing and Moscow will practice genuine multilateralism and promote a fairer and more equitable global governance system.

He underscored that both sides advocate for a more equitable and orderly multipolar world, as well as inclusive and mutually beneficial economic globalization.

The spokesperson noted that China and Russia are comprehensive strategic coordination partners in the new era.

Lin Jian added that both sides maintain close communication on important issues related to their bilateral ties.
