Karlen Regaiferos, Second Secretary of the Cuban Mission, was in charge of the presentation during the 63rd session of the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, diplomatic sources reported.
In his speech, the Cuban diplomat linked the new aggression (an Executive Order that threatens a total blockade of fuel imports) with the historic US economic blockade against Cuba.
“These measures, together with the inclusion of Cuba in the US unilateral list of “States Sponsors of Terrorism”, constitute the main obstacle that prevents the island from full participation in international space cooperation,” he said.
As part of the general debate, Cuba reaffirmed its historic commitment to defending outer space as an exclusive area for peace, international cooperation and sustainable development for the benefit of all mankind.
