Myanmar and Russia strengthen military cooperation

Yangon, Feb. 3 (Prensa Latina) Myanmar and Russia signed a military cooperation program aimed at strengthening bilateral collaboration in training, tactics, and joint exercises between their armed forces, according to official sources.

The agreement was signed after a meeting between Myanmar’s Defense Minister, General Maung Maung Aye, and Russia’s Deputy Defense Minister, Vasilii Sergeevich Osmakov.

During the talks, both sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation between the two defense ministries and agreed to expand joint work in military training and tactical operations.

The program was approved by Myanmar’s Deputy Defense Minister, Major General Aung Myo Thant, and the Russian representative, as part of efforts to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries in the military sphere.

High-level officials and representatives from both delegations participated in the meeting, which concluded with a commitment to continue developing practical cooperation mechanisms in the medium and long term.
