Takaichi’s LDP leads early election polls in Japan

Tokyo, Feb 3 (Prensa Latina) The snap elections in Japan, scheduled for February 8, currently show a favorable scenario for Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), which is leading in the polls.

Polls published by Japanese media outlets such as Kyodo and Asahi project that the LDP could easily surpass 233 seats, enough to run alone and well above the 199 it currently holds. Takaichi is seeking another term to promote economic and political reforms, and if the poll un results hold true, she would have advantages in carrying out her various projects.

In alliance with the Japan Innovation Party (Ishin), the LDP would win more than 310 of the 465 seats up for grabs, giving it a two-thirds majority in the House of Representatives and the ability to pass legislation without relying on the House of Representatives.

The opposition, on the other hand, faces a complex situation, as the newly formed Centrist Reformist Alliance, which includes the Constitutional Democratic Party and the Buddhist Komeito party, could see its parliamentary representation cut in half.

Analysts agree that there is insufficient time to consolidate the image of this new entity in a campaign lasting only 12 days, a factor Takaichi has carefully considered
