Congressman highlighted sustained GDP growth in Nicaragua

Managua, Feb 4 (Prensa Latina) – The president of the Production, Economy, and Budget Committee of Nicaragua's National Assembly (Parliament), Walmaro Gutierrez, highlighted the country's sustained GDP growth, which has translated into a better quality of life for the people.

According to the Pastran Report bulletin, the deputy presented a detailed report to the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) caucus on the performance of the Nicaraguan economy between 2007 and 2025.

This report emphasized that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reached $20,756.6 million in 2025.

Based on official data from the Central Bank of Nicaragua, Gutierrez specified that this figure represents more than double the $7,423.4 million recorded in 2007 under neoliberal governments, with an average annual growth rate of 4.1 percent over the last five years.

According to the publication, this increase reflects a dynamic economy, with greater production and activity that directly impacts social welfare and the country’s progress, while social investment and anti-poverty policies are maintained.

The report adds that GDP per capita reached $2,864.7 in 2024, demonstrating greater disposable wealth per person and significant improvements in access to basic services, especially in rural communities.

Among the key sectors, the manufacturing industry registered 13.9 percent growth, boosting exports of petroleum products, sugar, meat products, automotive wiring harnesses, and cigars.
