Ecuador: Gabriela Rivadeneira claims Cuba’s dignity facing US

Quito, Feb 4 (Prensa Latina) Gabriela Rivadeneira, president of Ecuador's Revolucion Ciudadana (Citizen's Revolution-RC), highlighted Cuba's dignity and its resistance in the face of US interference and harassment.

The party leader, elected to that position in January, highlighted in a conversation with Prensa Latina, the Caribbean nation as a political and ethical symbol on the international arena, despite the tightening of Washington’s coercive measures.

Rivadeneira, who was the President of the Ecuadorian National Assembly, affirmed that the new US decisions do not respond to humanitarian criteria, but rather to strategic and economic interests in Latin America.

“What we are witnessing is a fascist reconfiguration; they do not care about the sovereignty of peoples or their well-being,” she asserted.

Rivadeneira recently returned to Ecuador after six years in exile in Mexico due to legal persecution.

She said Washington prioritizes territorial control, and Cuba, despite lacking resources, has become a symbol of resistance against a foreign policy that punishes countries that do not align with US interests.

“What does Cuba have that the United States needs? It has dignity,” she underscored.

The political leader framed the island’s situation within an international context marked by armed conflicts and humanitarian crises in several regions worldwide, which she attributed to a logic of domination and expansion.
