On World Cancer Day, dedicated to its prevention every February 4, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) are calling for everyone to be “United by Unique.”
This campaign theme, in effect since 2025, puts people at the center of attention because cancer affects millions of lives in countless ways, but it does not define who we are.
We are more than a disease, more than a statistic, and more than a number or a diagnosis, the statement for the day points out.
Every experience with cancer is unique, and it will be necessary for all of us, united, to create a world where we look beyond the disease and see the person before the patient.
Only in this way can we rewrite the future of cancer care: a future where the needs of people and communities come first.
