The Brazilian Foreign Ministry announced that Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, who will also have with President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, are leading the meeting.
The Foreign Ministry informed that one of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN)’s main objectives is to strengthen trade by boosting exchanges and diversifying products.
Thursday’s discussions will also cover issues related to cooperation in energy, agriculture, science, technology and innovation, culture, and other sectors.
Mishustin and Alckmin will open, in the afternoon, the Brazil-Russia Business Forum, with the participation of several entrepreneurs from both countries.
Members of the official Russian delegation, which includes eight ministers, three deputy ministers, and heads of agencies, participated in a meeting with the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC).
Trade between the two countries reached in 2025 about 10.9 billion dollars: the Brazilian exports to Russia totaled 1.5 billion dollars, while those from that nation totaled 9.4 billion dollars.
