Delegations from both countries met in Washington yesterday for the Committee meeting, amidst discussions between DRC President Felix Tshisekedi and politicians, business leaders, and financiers, where businesses linked to critical minerals were at the heart of the talks.
The Congolese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Daniel Mukoko Samba, along with the Minister of Mines, Louis Kabamba Watum, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Noëlla Ayeganagato, led the DRC delegation.
The U.S. opposing party consisted of officials from the State Department, the Commerce Department, the Treasury Department, and the International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).
The Joint Steering Committee meeting focused on reviewing the list of Strategic Asset Reserves, which will be compiled into a joint report for the U.S. private sector outlining the identified investment opportunities.
