Mexico is making progress in sustainable tourism to protect beaches

Mexico City, Feb 6 (Prensa Latina) To strengthen the protection of beaches and coastal ecosystems, the Mexican government is moving forward with the transformation of the national tourism model, focused on sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and social responsibility.

As part of this strategy, authorities held the “Solutions Forum: Beaches and Coastal Tourism Ecosystems” in Huatulco Bays, in the southern state of Oaxaca.

The forum aimed at developing concrete proposals to improve management and conservation.

According to a statement from the Ministry of the Environment, the meeting was held in coordination with the National Fund for Tourism Development (FONATUR), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), local governments, and national and international specialists.

The participants’ goal was to develop solutions that integrate economic development, environmental protection, and social well-being.

Attendees addressed topics such as beach and visitor management, environmental education related to the tourism industry, financing for sustainable tourism projects, environmental restoration, and coastal planning.
