Dos Santos, speaking to local media, noted that Addis Ababa is a diplomatic capital of Africa, but not only of the continent. “I believe that all global issues pass through Ethiopia; we’re talking about trade and political matters, for example. Ethiopia will host COP 32 in 2027,” he emphasized.
He commented that the city has prepared itself very well to receive dozens of African heads of state and government and to organize the 39th Summit of the continental organization next week.
In his opinion, it is a good opportunity for the leaders to witness the city’s transformation.
“I think everyone should be proud of the way this government is doing; and then transforming the city, making it more modern and developed for people’s lives, for a better life,” he added.
He emphasized that what has been done in Ethiopia is similar to what has happened in all the world’s major capitals.
He pointed to other positive developments such as parks, gastronomy, and overall development, while also mentioning the daily flight from Ethiopia to Brazil, which encourages citizens of the South American giant transiting through to stay and enjoy the city, even if only for a layover.
