Iran warns of unexploded bombs at attacked nuclear facilities

Tehran, Feb 8 (Prensa Latina) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that unexploded bombs remain at several Iranian nuclear facilities attacked by the United States during last year's so-called Twelve-Day War.

Araqchi explained that he raised the issue with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi, asking him if there was any legal framework or specific protocol for visiting nuclear facilities that had been under military attack.

According to the Iranian Foreign Minister, Grossi responded that no such protocol exists, to which Tehran emphasized the need to agree beforehand on special inspection mechanisms.

There are security concerns, as there are still unexploded bombs, in addition to other issues that must be resolved before any visit, Araqchi noted.

The Iranian foreign minister pointed out that IAEA inspections can only take place after clear agreements are reached on these issues, and confirmed that Iran is in contact with the international agency regarding this matter.

On June 13 of last year, Israel, backed by the United States, launched a 12-day offensive against Iran, targeting military and nuclear facilities, civilian infrastructure, and killing high-ranking Iranian officials and scientists.

Tehran responded with missile and drone attacks against Israeli military and intelligence targets.
