Peoples of Colombia and Venezuela denounce US aggression

Caracas, Feb. 8 (Prensa Latina) The Assembly of the Peoples of Colombia and Venezuela denounced the systematic aggressions of the United States against Cuba and the Bolivarian Republic, the Ministry for Communes reported.

Under the slogan “One Embrace, One Future,” representatives from each country marched to the Simon Bolivar International Bridge, which divides the two nations, in the state of Tachira, to establish a meeting aimed at promoting cultural exchange and political coordination.

The Ministry emphasized in a press release that the “systematic aggressions orchestrated by imperialism” seek to seize strategic assets under the guise of defending democracy and the supposed fight against terrorism, as part of the renewed Monroe Doctrine.

That meeting was part of the work agenda held in the Colombian city if Cucuta, with a forum for analysis and dialogue on the social and political situation of the Colombian-Venezuelan border.

In their final declarations, the parties declared their “rebellion against the capitalist mode of production and reaffirmed the need to consolidate socialism as a way to guarantee the well-being of the majority.”

They condemned the “conciliatory stances of some governments in the face of imperialist attacks,” which not only seek to contain popular force but also condemn the social movement, especially in historically attacked territories.

The people of Colombia and Venezuela reaffirmed their commitment to continue the binational struggle in defense of peace and the sovereignty of their territories and to join the campaign for the release of the constitutional president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, and the first lady and congresswoman, Cilia Flores de Maduro.
