US intensifies pressure to force changes in Cuba, says expert

Havana, Feb 8 (Prensa Latina) The United States is intensifying pressure in a prolonged strategy of attrition to force internal changes in Cuba, and its policy does not respond to humanitarian interests, a specialized source asserted.

The director of the Center for International Policy Research (CIPI), Jose Ramon Cabanas, stated that the rhetoric about human rights and freedom masks an agenda financed with millions of dollars aimed at destabilizing the archipelago’s constitutional order.

Washington is not seeking a relationship of mutual respect, but rather intends to impose conditions, as it has historically done with other countries, despite the fact that around 60 percent of the population in the United States favors normalizing bilateral diplomatic and commercial relations.

Cuba’s response is not surrender, but rather is based on organization, mobilization, and the defense of principles, with national sovereignty as its central tenet, the analyst told the Cuban News Agency.

The director of CIPI described a new type of warfare, characterized by the prioritization of remote influence through economic pressure, delegitimizing political rhetoric, and media manipulation.

Speaking to the press, the diplomat also stated that Cuba will maintain cooperation on security, migration, and combating crime, and emphasized that it will prioritize the defense of its sovereignty in the face of economic pressure and political confrontation.

He noted that the bilateral relationship requires respect for and compliance with existing technical agreements. jdt/oda/jqo
