China urges Japan to pursue a peaceful foreign policy after elections

Beijing, Feb 9 (Prensa Latina) China urged Japanese authorities on to pursue a peaceful foreign policy and respect bilateral commitments following the legislative elections held in Tokyo.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian noted that the elections are a domestic matter for Japan, but pointed out that the trends and dynamics showed in the vote warrant reflection by Japanese society and the international community.

“Historical precedents are recent and should not be ignored,” Lin affirmed during the daily press briefing.

The spokesperson urged Tokyo to pay heed to the concerns of the international community and avoid any backsliding toward militarism.

He underscored the need for Japan faithfully adhere to the four political documents that underpin Chinese-Japanese relations.

Lin warned that far-right forces in Japan will face rejection from their people and the international community if they act recklessly.
