We firmly condemn the latest escalation of US imperialism against the sovereignty and independence of Cuba and its people, the PCP text emphasized.

It recalled that US President Donald Trump’s executive order designating Cuba as “an unusual and extraordinary threat to the US national security” is nothing more than a ploy based on falsehoods, a cynical pretext used by imperialism to try to impede fuel supplies and tighten the economic blockade against the island.

The release pointed out that the escalated US aggression against Cuba, accompanied by threats of arbitrary and coercive extraterritorial measures, represents a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and International Law, in light of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.

The document noted that in this way, Washington is escalating its policy of blackmail and aggression against Cuba to impose its dominance over the region, under the spirit of the Monroe Doctrine, also stressed by the military aggression against Venezuela, the kidnapping of President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and the threats against Colombia, Mexico, and other nations.

Faced with this onslaught against Cuba, the PCP and the remaining organizations that support this Declaration hail “Cuba’s example of courage, determination, peace, and cooperation,” while demanding an end to the hostility, the economic blockade, and the aggression of the United States.
