In his Instagram account, the Frente Amplio lawmaker referred to Donald Trump’s decree signed in January declaring a national emergency and viewing Cuba as an “unusual and extraordinary threat” to US security.
It is a pretext for a military intervention in the Caribbean island as it did before against Venezuela, he said.
The parliamentarian of the Popular Participation Movement, which is a member of the FA, recalled that early this year Cuba declared its readiness to cooperate with Washington in matters of security and terrorism.
The response was more blockade against the island and cutting off fuel supplies with penalties for companies selling oil to the Island, he commented. He said that oil is not a luxury, but a necessity for Cuba to keep its hospitals, transportation and other activities running.

This happens with an economy limited from outside for more than 60 years of blockade, the Frente Amlio deputy argued.
Ideological differences should not be grounds for punishing people. The civilian population should never be a sacrificial label of geopolitics, he ruled.
