The National Council of Delegates of the Association of Workers and Employees of Conaprole (AOEC) decided to halt production activities for 24 hours nationwide.
The strike began yesterday with the night shifts, and workers will return to work starting with the night shifts this Friday, February 13, according to a union statement.
The action is in response to the company’s decision to close the Distribution Center located at Plant 14 in Rivera (in the north), where industrial activities ceased last year.
The council also decided to convene a general assembly of the AOEC on Thursday, February 19, to analyze the situation and determine further actions. Furthermore, it authorized the union leadership to consider refusing to load products and milk destined for the departments of Artigas and Rivera, whose towns are currently supplied from the aforementioned distribution center.
