The understanding was reached during a meeting between Agriculture and Environment Minister Linkham Douangsavanh and EU Ambassador to Laos, Mark Gallagher, who agreed to expand cooperation frameworks in priority sectors.
The agreement envisions deepening collaboration in agricultural value chains, forest protection, environmental management, and sustainable growth, to generate tangible benefits for rural communities and the national economy.
Douangsavanh and Gallagher reviewed ongoing programs and expressed willingness to strengthen initiatives that improve product quality, increase added value, and facilitate access to international markets.
They agreed, in the forestry sector, to boost actions to strengthen governance and foster the sustainable management of forests, in tune with responsible trade practices and long-term environmental protection.
Douangsavanh underscored the importance of maintaining mutual support in strategic areas considered essential for the conservation, restoration, and sustainable use of the country’s forest resources.
