Just last Sunday, between 800 and 900 people were repatriated as part of coordinated efforts to enforce the General Migration Law and preserve public order and citizen security, Interior and Police Minister Faride Raful stated.
The official reiterated that these actions are being carried out in strict adherence to due process and in coordination with the General Directorate of Migration, the National Police, and other security agencies.
She also detailed that the National Police have removed 714 illegal weapons from the streets as part of preventive operations and targeted actions aimed at reducing violence and protecting citizens.
She confirmed that these interventions are carried out with the objective of preventing illegal weapons from causing further irreparable harm and to strengthen the State’s preventative capacity against crime.
The day before, after the follow-up meeting on the Citizen Security Plan, chaired by the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, Farul addressed the fight against organized crime.
Likewise, he highlighted that several members of criminal organizations have already been brought to justice and are awaiting final sentences, as a result of coordinated intelligence and prosecution operations.
