The Finance Committee of Parliament has already authorized the loan, which, according to the Ministry of Finance, will allow for 30,000 daily consultations.
Additionally, 400 kiosks will be set up to dispense medications to patients or users of the telemedicine system currently being promoted by the government.
According to Marlon Herrera, Director of Public Investment and Credit, strengthening the initiative will expand coverage to 30,000 daily consultations, with 24/7 service, benefiting 4.5 million Salvadorans.
Despite criticism from the private sector, the government insists on expanding health coverage and equitable access nationwide, while training personnel in health digitization, digital skills, and other areas, the official stated.
DoctorSV operates with a $77 million loan from CAF, approved in December 2023, for the “Program for the Implementation of a Telemedicine System in El Salvador,” and since its launch has received support from users who avoid having to visit health centers.
In addition to facilitating prescription medications dispensed at selected pharmacies, the plan offers free laboratory testing options to the population.
