The incident occurred while specialized units were clearing explosive devices in the area. Among the injured are Şevket Akça, a correspondent for Anadolu Agency, who was covering the operation, and Hassan Hashem, a correspondent for the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), as well as an army officer.

According to available information, Akça suffered a head injury from shrapnel and fragments ejected by the explosion.

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
