One of the legislators was Senator Omar Restrepo, of the Comunes party, who stated that humanity must mobilize against the unilateral blockade.
Restrepo wrote on his X profile, “This act of genocide is unacceptable and cannot be ignored by any democrat in the world. This criminal policy has caused suffering to millions of Cubans by limiting their access to medicine, food, and technology, and by affecting health, education, economy, and development of the population.”
Senator Gloria Florez also commented on her social media that Colombians owe a deep debt of gratitude to the Cuban people for their contribution to building peace in this nation.
Florez stated, “Our response must be an active solidarity, firm commitment, and concrete actions.”
Representative Maria Fernanda Carrascal also deplored the effects of the US blockade on the citizens and highlighted the formation of a flotilla to deliver aid to the Caribbean nation.
