The event, which brought together civil society groups and media representatives, also included the official presentation of the symbols under which each party will contest the elections scheduled for June 1.

NEBE President Melatwork Hailu stated that a free, peaceful, and fair election is only possible if all parties respect the law and fulfill their responsibilities. She further emphasized that the success of the process would be the result of a collective effort by all stakeholders.

For his part, the Board’s Vice Chairman, Tesfaye Neway, explained that the formal code of conduct consists of seven chapters and 30 articles and was developed after extensive discussions with participants.

Neway called on the media to provide equal and impartial opportunities for all parties to present their political platforms to the public.

Officials noted that the signing of the code of conduct marks a critical milestone for the next phase of the electoral process, which includes official campaign activities and the candidate debates currently being organized by the Board.
