Turkiye rejects Israeli claims to Palestinian territories

Ankara, Feb 23 (Prensa Latina) The spokesman for Turkiye’s Justice and Development Party (AKP), Omer Celik, asserted that Israel has no rights or sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories or any other Arab land.

In posts on social media, Celik emphasized that any Israeli threat against the sovereignty of Arab states is “illegitimate.” He also condemned Israeli attempts to annex the West Bank or to separate it from Gaza Strip, calling them a form of “genocide.”

In his statement, Celik also referenced US Ambassador Mike Huckabee, who defended the “Greater Israel” project in a recent interview with US journalist Tucker Carlson.

Huckabee argued that he saw no problem with Israel seizing control of the entire Middle East, basing his position on a religious interpretation and “biblical law” which, according to him, extends from the Nile to the Euphrates, encompassing territories of several Arab countries, including Iraq, Egypt, and Syria.

The Turkish spokesman strongly criticized this position, noting that the attempt to replace international law with fanatical religious claims would have serious consequences for the region. “We categorically reject and strongly condemn this approach, which threatens our sister nations by defending Israeli hegemony in the Middle East,” he emphasized.

Likewise, Celik described Huckabee’s support for the Israeli government’s actions in Gaza, where violence has resulted in a high number of casualties, including children, as “inhumane and atrocious.”
