According to sources on the ground, dozens of trucks carrying logistical equipment traveled from the base in convoys toward the Iraqi border as part of the relocation process.
Previously, the United States had withdrawn its forces from other military installations in Syria, including the bases in Shaddadi and Tanf.
Currently, the US military maintains a presence in small locations, such as Remeilan, Kharab al-Jir, and Life Stone, in the same province of Hasakah, but is no longer present at large operational bases.
The Wall Street Journal had previously reported that, once the transfer of Daesh fighters to Iraq is complete, the U.S. military plans to fully withdraw its remaining forces from Syria, currently numbering around 1,000 troops.
This process is estimated to be completed within two months.
The US military presence in Syria began in 2015, with the stated objective of fighting Daesh, but its continued presence has been the subject of controversy and strategic shifts in recent years.
