Dominican intellectuals warn of attempt to “strangle” Cuba

Santo Domingo, Feb. 24 (Prensa Latina) Under the title “Strangle Cuba,” Dominican intellectuals Juan Miguel, Amaury, and Amin Perez published an article in Listin Diario stating that “never in universal history has an imperial power besieged a small country to the point of seeking its demise,” alluding to the United States.

“This is happening today before the eyes of the world, including those of its neighbors. From the same perpetrators of the genocide in Gaza come the preparations to blockade Cuba until it can no longer breathe,” warn the three academics, sons of the renowned revolutionary fighter and journalist Raul Perez Pena (Bacho).

“We are living through a criminal political moment in international relations. The multilateral order has been demolished, taking with it international law and the idea of sovereignty,” they maintain.

“Now all that remains is the brutality of some blond children playing Wild West against the rest of the world,” they published on the opinion page of the nationally circulated newspaper.

They noted that “the fear is so great that the Dominican Foreign Ministry doesn’t even dare to issue a humanitarian statement.”

“The media and the remnants of the intellectual world, while the most planned genocide in modern history begins, prefer to talk about the obsolescence of the Cuban Revolution; the rapist in the act of rape, but they choose to refer to the girl and her miniskirts,” they stated.

They pointed out that, meanwhile, the Cuban children, hospitals, and elderly population are suffering firsthand from the naval and financial blockade the island is enduring.

“In the midst of it all, Cuba continues to resist even the insensitivity and subservience of the region’s governments,” declared Juan Miguel, Amaury, and Amin Perez.
