The Egyptian Foreign Ministry informed that the two diplomats had a phone call on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual interest.
The text stated that Abdelatty stressed the importance of containing the rising tensions and, in this regard, highlighted Cairo’s role in continuing Washington-Tehran talks.
The Egyptian diplomat also underscored the need to reach a consensual and peaceful solution that takes into account the interests of all parties concerned and addresses the issues related to the Iranian nuclear issue.
Both sides emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomatic engagement as key tools for preserving regional security and stability.
The United States has increased, in the last few weeks, its belligerent rhetoric and notably its military presence in the Middle East as part of its threats against the Muslim nation.
