Mexican legislators reaffirm solidarity with Cuba

Mexico City, Feb 25 (Prensa Latina) Dolores Padierna, deputy coordinator of the ruling MORENA (National Regeneration Movement) party's parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies, reaffirmed solidarity with Cuba during a meeting with the island's Ambassador to Mexico, Eugenio Martinez.

Padierna emphasized at the meeting, to which legislators from the Mexico-Cuba Brotherhood Group participated, that both nations share values such as sovereignty, self-determination, and resistance to external interference.

The deputy coordinator added that they also share a steadfast commitment to social justice, while denouncing the worsening of unilateral measures by the United States that impact access to energy and essential goods on the island and have consequences for the daily lives of the Cuban people.

She stated that the Mexico-Cuba Brotherhood Group emerged not as a symbolic gesture or a temporary stance, but as an ethical and historical reaffirmation that the ties between the two nations go beyond any political circumstance.

Padierna underscored, “Mr. Ambassador, we hope that, through you, be possible to convey to your government, and above all to the people of Cuba, that there are firm voices in Mexico that recognize the dignity of your historic anti-imperialist struggle and your right to decide your destiny without external pressure.”

A release from the Chamber of Deputies noted that the Cuban ambassador thanked the legislators for their expressions of solidarity and highlighted the creation of the Brotherhood Group.
