This territory, controlled by Janjaweed militia leader Musa Hilal, in North Darfur state, has been the target of attacks since the beginning of this week, and the Sudan Doctors Network specified that all the victims are civilians, including 10 women.
According to the sources, the offensive by the so-called Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Mustariha caused the displacement of its inhabitants to nearby villages and settlements, amid difficult humanitarian conditions.
The day before, the United Nations Security Council announced its deep concern over the ongoing violence in Sudan, particularly in the states of Darfur and Kordofan, and urged the RSF and the Armed Forces to immediately cease hostilities.
Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been engulfed in civil war, following escalating power struggles between Army Chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Rapid Support Forces leader Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.
The fighting has destroyed countless livelihoods, plunging the country into a complex spiral of hunger and death.
