Prosecutor’s office to receive complaint about registration fraud

La Paz, Feb 25 (Prensa Latina) The Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) is preparing to refer to the Public Prosecutor's Office the complaints filed by voters who were registered with political parties without their consent, an official source confirmed.

“Several citizens have been surprised to find themselves registered with different political organizations. The message to these political organizations from the TSE is clear and forceful: we will not bear this type of action,” expressed the president of that state body, Gustavo Avila.

The official reported that the plenary session of the Plurinational Electoral Body (OEP) decided to refer these cases to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

“Enough of deceiving citizens,” Avila emphasized during a press conference.

Since last Friday, complaints have been received from voters who are registered as members of political groups they never joined.

Among them are journalists, media professionals, and artists, according to reports. Regarding this issue, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) reported that those affected can resign their party membership or even pursue legal action.

Valeria Gonzalez, a presenter for the television channel RTP, denounced on her social media that she is not a member of any party, yet appears as such in a political group.

Most of the complaints are related to the so-called Vida Movement, whose legal status is recognized by the Electoral Body (OEP).
