Payments will begin on March 3 and consist of a one-time payment of 2,500 pesos (approximately 65 dollars at the current exchange rate).
The bonus will be automatically implemented, meaning that 143,000 beneficiaries will receive it directly along with their Family Allowance. Another 27,000 students, who do not receive an allowance, will be able to collect it at payment centers using their national identity card.
The school voucher program has the support of all political parties in the Uruguayan Parliament and a roadmap that aims to reach more than 200,000 children by 2027.
