Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the bombing of the Muslim nation, claiming they sought to eliminate threats to his country, although Tehran authorities repeatedly asserted that they pose no danger to anyone.

An Israeli official, quoted by the online version of the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, stated that “this is a joint Israeli-American attack… Everyone is attacking,” though he offered no further details.

Another Israeli source suggested that the recent talks between Tehran and Washington were merely an attempt to “confuse” the Iranians.

“All the propaganda of the last few weeks was aimed at confusing them. Everything was planned in advance,” he emphasized, alluding to the indirect contacts held in Muscat, Oman, and Geneva, Switzerland, regarding Iran’s nuclear program.

The Associated Press confirmed that Pentagon forces are participating in the operation, having deployed the largest military group to the area since the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Currently, two aircraft carriers with their respective strike groups, more than a hundred warplanes of various types, and numerous missile batteries, among other units, are stationed in the region.

According to reports from the Saudi television network Al-Arabiya, explosions were heard near several bases of the Revolutionary Guard Corps and the intelligence headquarters in Tehran, as well as other military installations.

For its part, Al Jazeera reported incursions in the cities of Isfahan, Kermanshah, Qom, and Karaj.
