At this venue on Havana’s central La Rampa, the documentary “Mijain Lopez,” by Cuban filmmakers Rolando Almirante, Angel Alderete, and Hector Villar, will be screened this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. local time at Alfredo Guevara cinema.
The film recounts the feats and moments in the life of a man of very humble origins who, thanks to the Revolution, managed to develop a career in sports that led him to win five Olympic gold medals.
Shortly after, at 2:30 p.m., in the Salon de Mayo, the books “A bordo de una nave llamada Cuba” (On Board a Vessel Called Cuba) and “Diario de Turin. La solidaridad en tiempos de pandemia” (Turin Diary: Solidarity in Times of Pandemic), both by Cuban journalist and researcher Enrique Ubieta, will be presented.
At 3:00 p.m., on the Boulevard AHS, in conjunction with the La Fela Local Development Project, singer Lexis Alarcon will perform. The highlight of the day will be the concert at 4:00 p.m. by the group Manolito Simonet y su Trabuco on the main stage, and at 7:00 p.m., the musical program “Fiebre del 90” (90s Fever) will begin at La Pergola, both in the Pabellon Cuba (Cuba Pavilion).
On Sunday, also at 3:00 p.m., singer Sergio Pompa will perform on the Boulevard AHS; while at 7:00 p.m., the popular program “Fiebre del 90” will return to La Pergola.
