On his Twitter account, Salazar referred to the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, following attacks by the United States and Israel, and then called for expanding the struggle to defend the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace.
“They killed the Ayatollah of Iran. What is needed is to expand and intensify the anti-imperialist struggle for a Caribbean Zone of Peace, free from the Yankee boots,” wrote Salazar, who is also a member of the PCT Secretariat.
The day before, the PCT condemned the recent military attack carried out by US and Israeli forces against Iran.
The Commission on International Affairs and Relations of the Dominican group stated in a press release that this action is not an isolated incident, but rather confirms the persistence of U.S. imperialism in its use of “gunboat diplomacy.”
It denounced the administration of President Donald Trump as the main source of instability and a direct threat to world peace. Furthermore, it warned that the arguments used against Iran are “subterfuges” similar to those used in the past to justify invasions, as it happened in Syria, Libya, and other nations.
